Man dead in provincial police-involved shooting in Brockville

The province’s police watchdog is investigating after an Ontario Provincial Police officer was involved in a shooting that killed a 28-year-old.

Officials from the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) are investigating after one man was killed on Thursday. Police were executing a search warrant at home in the area of King Street West and Broad Street in Brockville around 7:45 p.m.

OPP were assisting Brockville Police Service, when during the incident an officer shot their gun. The man was struck by the bullet and was sent to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The SIU invokes its mandate when a person is seriously injured or killed in an interaction with police in Ontario.
