Upgraded charges in Perth park murder as suspects run from police

Provincial police have upgraded murder charges to first-degree against two men who are wanted in connection with a homicide in a Perth, Ont. park.

Joseph Madore, 34, and Brayton Kennedy, 28, were initially facing second-degree charges, but are now upgraded to first-degree in the murder of Christo Allison Richards. The 34-year-old was found with life-threatening injuries in Last Duel Park, west of the nation’s capital, on April 12.

Officials have not been able to locate the two men.

They believe that Madore is somewhere in British Columbia, and may be travelling through or camping in remote backcountry areas. They say he has connections to Richmond, Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Terrace.

Kennedy, 28, was last seen in the Moncton, N.B., area. His whereabouts are currently unknown.

Police are asking anyone that has seen them or knows where they are to call 911 and not approach them.

Charges have been laid against Michael Lewis, 46, of Perth, with conspiracy to commit murder and Lyna Du, 32, in Ottawa, with accessory after the fact to murder.
