Ottawa fire prevents garage blaze from levelling Manotick home

A garage fire at a home in Manotick was quelled by Ottawa firefighters Tuesday afternoon, with no reported injuries as a result of the blaze.

Shortly after 1:15 p.m., Ottawa Fire Services responded to multiple emergency calls reporting black smoke and flames coming from an attached garage at a home in the 400 block of Lockmaster Crescent in Manotick. Firefighters arrived four minutes after the initial call, and confirmed the two-car garage had been fully engulfed in flames, with the blaze spreading into the home’s interior.

Crews faced “zero-visibility conditions” due to the density of the fire’s smoke. After two complete searches of the home, firefighters confirmed there were no people were inside the residence at the time of the blaze.

Officials on scene broke open multiple sections of the home’s interior and exterior to expose hidden areas to ensure the flames did not spread further. The fire under control at 1:54 p.m.

No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze, and Ottawa Fire says they have dispatched an official to investigate the cause and origin of the fire.
