23-year-old killed by heavy equipment at Richmond workplace

The Ministry of Labour is looking into the circumstances surrounding the death of a young Ottawa worker that happened on Tuesday.

According to a release by Ottawa police they were called, alongside paramedics, around 12:30 p.m. to a business in Richmond in the 4200 block of Barnsdale Road.

A man was trapped under heavy equipment, officials learned.

The 23-year-old died at the scene as a result of his injuries. Police said the incident is not believed to be suspicious.

Officers are supporting the investigation that is being led by the Ministry of Labour. The man’s name is not being released out of respect for the family, the release notes.
