An officer in an unmarked police cruiser pulled over a young driver after seeing the bright green vehicle swerve in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed.
Provincial police said it happened on Highway 417 on Wednesday during the afternoon rush hour. The officer said they watched a vehicle follow too closely, pass the cruiser, and weave through traffic.
Officials said the vehicle was going 157 and 171 km/h.
When pulled over, police said the driver had a G2 licence, and was charged with stunt driving. Their licence was suspended, the vehicle impounded and they are expected in court at a later date.
In another post by police, they said they continued patrolling the highways in the nation’s capital, pulling over several drivers, on Wednesday.
One highlighted is a stunt driver that police said was clocked going 170 km/h on Highway 416. Officials also said they stopped a driver on Highway 417 who registered an alert on a roadside screening test. The person also did not have insurance, police said in the release.
“That driver had their licence suspended roadside for seven days and also faced a minimum $5,000 fine for operating a vehicle without insurance,” it reads.
