Ottawa police stop two stunt drivers going double the speed limit on Bronson Avenue

By Victoria Williston

A traffic safety blitz on speeding, stunt driving and excessive noise nailed nine stunt drivers, this past weekend.

Project Noisemaker stopped 66 speeders, nine of whom were clocked doing 50 km/hr or more above the speed limit, by early Sunday morning.

Two of those drivers were stopped on Bronson Avenue, with one going 121 km/hr, and the other 118 km/hr. Bronson Avenue has a limit of 60 km/hr.

Overall, 91 highway traffic fines were handed out.

Ottawa police say they also stopped a driver on Highway 417 near Hunt Club Road going 138 km/hr. Due to construction in that area, the speed limit at this time is 80 km/hr.
