CityNewsOttawa, in partnership with the Ottawa Humane Society, brings you a regular feature highlighting a special pet that is in need of adoption.

Gordo is a nine-month-old American chinchilla mix rabbit looking to hop into his forever home.

He is a very loving guy who is looking forward to spending everyday by your side!

Gordo was treated for a upper respiratory tract infection while in OHS care. Symptoms are similar to that of a common cold in humans, and in rabbits the condition is frequently referred to as “snuffles”.

Rabbits can have periodic flare-ups, which may require veterinary care. You will need to discuss special medical needs with your veterinarian.

For more information about Gordo please visit

Adoptions are currently being done by appointment, with a curbside option available. If you are interested in adopting me, please email the OHS a completed adopter profile found at

Items you must have with you: proof of address, photo ID, animal carrier and collar.

Unable to adopt? Share this feature on social media so each animal can get the exposure it needs and find a loving home.
