The City of Ottawa says a child at St. Luke’s Child Care Centre has tested positive for COVID-19.

The child’s last day at the centre was April 30, and the city's children’s services department was notified about the positive test result on Sunday, May 2.

In consultation with Ottawa Public Health (OPH), the city has decided to close the preschool program at St. Luke’s Child Care Centre for at least 14 days.

No further COVID-19 transmission has been identified within the centre.

This is the second COVID-19 outbreak that St. Luke's has reported this year; One child and two staff members were infected with the virus between March 15 and April 5.

Children’s services says it is continuing to follow OPH’s guidelines to support everyone’s safety.
