Algonquin College cancels all on-campus events until end of summer

With the COVID-19 pandemic still posing challenges, Algonquin College said it has made the decision to cancel all on-campus events until the summer.

In a memo sent out Friday by college president Claude Brulé, all on-campus events are cancelled until August 31.

“Public health officials continue to underscore the high risk associated with large gatherings, and we wanted to give everyone advanced notice so people can plan accordingly,” he wrote.

This decision extends to the Ottawa, Pembroke and Perth campuses.

The college will be going through its midterm break this week.

The University of Ottawa has already completed its reading week last week, as did Carleton University.

Ottawa continues to be in the orange zone of the Ontario government's COVID-19 recovery framework.
