The incumbent for Ottawa's Alta Vista Ward in this October's municipal election appears to be bowing to pressure over a fundraising dinner that's come under fire due to the involvement of local developers.
During the Ward 18 debate on Rogers Cable 22, Jean Cloutier announced the steakhouse lunch, organized by his campaign manager and former Alta Vista City Councillor Peter Hume, is cancelled.
The issue came to light as the invite list for the fundraiser featured a number of developers.
Cloutier sits on the City of Ottawa's Planning Committee.
Hume works in the development industry.
Cloutier originally defended the fundraiser, saying Hume was just reaching out to people he knows.
He also challenged other candidates in this year's election to reveal their complete lists of donors preceding the October 22 vote. Cloutier is expected to reveal all of his donors by 5 p.m. on October 17.
