Provincial police have recovered the body of a 23-year-old Belleville man who fell though the ice in Prince Edward County.
Shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports a man had gone through the ice in the Point Anne area of the Bay of Quinte.
Police responded with emergency services from Prince Edward County, Belleville and Trenton.
The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) attended the scene on Sunday, January 10 to conduct search efforts, and recovered a body.
The OPP says temperatures have been erratic this winter and most ice is not strong enough to support the weight of a person. You're asked to stay off the ice for your own safety and the safety of first responders.
