Centretown residents displaced after early morning fire

By Victoria Williston

Residents of two units in an apartment building on Somerset Street West have been displaced from their homes after an early morning fire.

Crews were called to a residential building west of Bank Street, shortly after 2 a.m. on Thursday, August 26.

Three residents had to be removed from the third floor by firefighters using an aerial ladder.

Ottawa Fire Services says firefighters who entered the building encountered heavy smoke in a stairwell and eventually located the blaze in a hallway.
