Charges laid after a vehicle fire on Highway 7 in Drummond-North Elmsley Township

One person has been charged after a car fire in Drummond-North Elmsley Township.

The Lanark Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of a car fire on Highway 7 around 11 p.m. on Thursday, Aug.11. 

Officers arrived on scene and located a vehicle that was fully engulfed in flames, but no sign of the driver.

The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT)  and Canine Unit assisted with a ground search of the area and the male driver was located nearby.

Payton Marsh, 18, of Corbyville, faces the following charges:

  • Dangerous Operation      
  • Impaired Operation – alcohol and drugs
  • Impaired Operation – blood alcohol concentration over 80  
  • Fail to Remain  s. 200(1)(a) HTA 
  • Young Driver – B.A.C above Zero

The accused is scheduled to appear court in Perth on Sept. 19, 2022.
