A ceremony will be held to celebrate the City of Ottawa's grand re-opening of the new and improved fitness park named after Canadian Olympic medalist Sue Holloway, in Mooney's Bay.

The event, will take place on Saturday June 15 at noon and include appearances by Mayor Jim Watson and Holloway herself, as well as a ribbon cutting ceremony and plaque reveal.

The open gym was rebuilt at the south end of the park, following a consultation with the community and stakeholders.

As a result, it now features new equipment like step benches, a balance beam, pull-up bars and more.

Originally opened 30 years ago, the park was created to celebrate Holloway becoming the first Canadian to compete in both the summer and winter games, during the same year.
