City to consider expanded green bin program

By OttawaMatters Staff

We could see an expanded green bin program in Ottawa next year.

The program could expand under a revised contract with Orga World, to include plastic bags and dog waste.

The cost to the city would be $626,000, or 15 cents a month for the average household.

It's hoped the expansion would eliminate the need for special liner bags, reducing odours and concerns over pests.

The report will be presented at the Environment and Climate Protection Committee meeting this coming Monday, and will then be considered at council on Wednesday, March 28.
