Conservative MP says party is ‘energized’ by Poilievre’s win

By CityNews Staff

Pierre Poilievre is the new Conservative Party leader, winning 70 per cent of the popular vote.

Michael Barrett, Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, told The Rob Snow Show on Sept. 12 that the Conservative party has never been more energized and united than under Poilievre.

Barrett added that Poilievre's Saturday night speech is the “message Canadians have been aching for.”

“It's a leader who is all about them and all about their issues and meeting them where they're at,” he said. “This is a case where there is a message that is resonating with Canadians… it's going to be a government that puts people's paychecks, their retirements, and their country first.”
