The COVID-19 tragedy inside of Almonte Country Haven continues with another two coronavirus-related resident deaths being announced by the long-term care home.

That brings the overall COVID-19 death toll at the home to 16.

“My heart goes out to the families and our entire care team as we grapple with these losses together,” said Administrator Carolyn Della Foresta on Monday.

She explains that the home's staff continues to have full access to the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) required at all times.

Della Foresta says the home is in contact with provincial and local health authorities in order to provide them with the most up to date information, and to ensure it is following all directives and protocols.

The home is also sharing information with other homes in the province and collaborating with Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Public Health, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Long-Term care.

“I also want to thank our families and community for sending their kind words and well wishes to the team here at Almonte, this is what we need right now to get through this,” Della Foresta adds. “The ongoing demonstrations of support and kind words provide the fuel our team needs to continue on in our efforts to provide the excellent care and support that our little home is known for.”
