Construction on a downtown tunnel to keep sewage from spilling into the Ottawa River is six months behind schedule.
In a memo released by the city's Director of Infrastructure Alain Gonthier, he said work on the $232.3-million sewage storage tunnel will now extend into 2020.
The work was originally scheduled to wrap up in 2019.
Gonthier explained the delay is partly due to challenges that were encountered while assembling a digging machine.
Work is underway to find opportunities to mitigate the delay over the next 24 months.
