Demonstrations for more action on climate change take place in downtown Ottawa

By CityNews Ottawa

Demonstrations took place in the streets of downtown Ottawa on Sept. 23 where many people demanded more action to fight climate change.

The crowd included Ottawa Centre Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) Joel Harden, who argued that Ottawa should hook into Québec's power grid for emissions-free hydro electric power.

“It's more affordable and better for the future, so why wouldn't we do it,” he said. “It's just the nuclear industry and lobbyists that don't want us to do it.”

Harden attended a climate rally before the march that was hosted by mayoral candidate Catherine McKenney. The march started from Confederation Park, taking the message to Parliament Hill.
