Deputy mayor Bob Monette not running for re-election

One of the city's deputy mayors has announced he will not run for re-election this fall.
Orleans councillor Bob Monette has decided to step down when this term of council ends in December, after four terms on city council.
Before amalgamation, Monette served six years on Cumberland Township Council.
In a statement, Monette says he had planned to run again, but changed his mind over the past few weeks, citing “family considerations.”
His statement did not say what those family considerations were.
