An Ottawa doctor has had his licence suspended for three months, in a ruling from the college of physicians and surgeons, for professional misconduct.

The discipline committee ruled earlier this month that Dr. Peter Davison engaged in unprofessional conduct when he borrowed $10,000 from an elderly patient to cover rent for his office.

According to the ruling, the patient, a man in his 90s, was suspected of having dementia in 2015.

Davison approached him in 2016 to ask for financial assistance.

The college received a complaint in September of 2016, and in November an investigator spoke with the patient who said Davison had repaid him, apologized, and he now considered the matter closed.
