Donations to Ottawa Humane Society tripled until end of weekend

The Ottawa Humane Society continues to find ways to drum up support in the uncertain times caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the animal welfare charity, PAW monthly donations and one-time gifts made towards the OHS will be tripled until September 13 to raise money for the city’s homeless animals.

Anyone who donates by then will have three times the impact, the OHS says in a news release.

“COVID-19 has had a major effect on everyone, and the OHS continues to rely on its generous supporters to provide life-saving surgeries, medications and care for Ottawa’s animals,” the statement said.

Bruce Roney, OHS president and CEO, added, “It’s incredible how our community can rally to save lives and help complete so many families. If you’ve ever thought about donating to help Ottawa’s most vulnerable pets, there’s never been a better time to make a huge difference.”

Any support from the public helps provide x-rays, medications and care to animals needed to make a full recovery.

Donations will be matched up to $120,000 by a group of donors, OHS says.

As to who the matching donors are, OHS does not say.
