UPDATE: Ottawa paramedics confirm that the driver was a male driver in his 20s. He sustained serious injuries to his lower extremities, with a possible head injury.
The driver was taken to hospital for treatment.
A driver had to be extricated from their vehicle when their car had crashed into a building overnight in North Gower.
Emergency crews were called to the scene of Roger Stevens Drive between Perkins Drive and Fourth Line Road Sunday at about 12:45 a.m. where they confirmed a single vehicle breached the side of a building and a lone occupant would need extrication.
Photos from the Ottawa Fire Services show it was a dark coloured Mazda car that had struck Perkins Home Building Centre at 2338 Roger Stevens Dr.
Firefighters applied cribbing to stabilize the building and removed debris to gain access to the patient at 1:20 a.m.
Once extricated, paramedics assumed care.
Patient information, including the state of the driver's health, is not yet known.
