Drug busts in Vanier, south Ottawa

One man has been charged in a big drug bust, after Ottawa police officers raided two homes.

The tactical unit searched the two locations, yesterday; one home on Landry Street in Vanier and another on Riverside Drive. Police say the raids were carried out after complaints about drug trafficking at both locations.

Officers seized a large quantity of cash and cocaine, as well as a loaded semi-automatic handgun with ammunition.

One person — Ismail Mohamed, 30, has been charged with:

  • two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Schedule I substance
  • Possession of Proceeds of crime over $5000.00
  • Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm
  • Store Firearm Carelessly
  • Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace
  • Possess Prohibited Firearm knowing not holding a Licence
  • Unlicensed Person Possess Prohibited Weapon
  • Possess Firearm Obtained by Crime
  • Possess Property Obtained by Crime exceeding $5000

Mohamed is scheduled to appear in court today.
