Environment Canada issues frost advisory for Ottawa and the region

Environment Canada has issued a frost advisory for Ottawa and surrounding areas for the evening of Friday, Sept. 23. 

The advisory was issued just after 10 a.m. on Sept. 23. 

According to Environment Canada, Friday is expected to reach a high of 13 C, but the low temperature could reach 1 C with frost.

“Temperatures are expected to fall near the freezing mark tonight,” Environment Canada said. 

The frost advisory is in effect for all of eastern Ontario. 

“Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops,” the weather agency added. “Cover up plants, especially those in frost-prone areas. Take preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees.”
