By Anil Jhalli

Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory for Ottawa.

The weather agency is warning residents of reduced visibility with the capital expected to received between five and 10 centimetres of snow beginning on the evening of Thursday, Jan. 19 and into the morning of Friday, Jan. 20.

Weather advisory in effect for:

  • Ottawa North – Kanata – Orléans
  • Ottawa South – Richmond – Metcalfe

“A Colorado low is expected to bring snow beginning this evening,” Environment Canada said. “The snow is expected to fall heavy at times before tapering off to periods of light snow early Friday morning.”

The City of Ottawa said it is ready and sending snow clearing crews out this evening.

Sidewalks, priority roads and cycling networks will be first priority for snow plows. While there is no parking ban in effect, the City is asking drivers to park off the roads so crews can keep them clean.
