Feds announce $3.65 million for affordable housing in Ottawa

The Shepherds of Good Hope will receive more than $3.65 million for its new supportive housing facility, planned for Montreal Road.
Federal and municipal leaders held a ceremonial ground-breaking on the 42-unit building, Monday. When completed, the facility will provide affordable homes for people who have experienced chronic homelessness and require 24-hour services.
In addition to federal funds, the $11-million project has also received funding from the province and the City of Ottawa.
The building, now under construction at 765 Montreal Road, will use 39 per cent less energy and 27 per cent less greenhouse gas than the national building code.
