Fire crews battle blaze in apartment building on Carling Avenue

Ottawa firefighters responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a fire in an apartment building on Carling Avenue on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) received a call just after 6:45 p.m yesterday and responded to the scene two minutes after being dispatched in the 1800 block of Carling Avenue, off of Sherbourne Road and McKellar Avenue.
Firefighters found the fire inside an apartment in the three-storey building and confirmed that a couch was on fire.
The fire was brought under control just before 7 p.m. Firefighters removed the couch and brought it outside.
Crews searched the apartment and found no occupants. Two residents were assessed by paramedics at the scene.
