Four players from Watson Elite Baseball, a baseball program based in Ottawa, are participating in the Canadian Futures Showcase tournament, hosted by the Toronto Blue Jays, taking place in the national capital from Sept. 20 until Sept. 24.

One hundred and fifty players from all parts of Canada will be in Ottawa to face off against each other and showcase their skills in front of Major League Baseball (MLB) scouts and college recruiters from across Canada and the United States.

The four players from Ottawa are outfielder Ty Hamilton, first baseman Tyler Bono, catcher Sam Byers and right-handed pitcher Sam McKay.

“It is really an amazing accomplishment for these four talented players,” said Tanner Watson, who founded Watson Elite after a ten-year professional career. “I couldn’t be prouder of our guys.”

This summer, the Blue Jays conducted tryouts across Canada for players with draft and college eligibility. They selected the top 150 players from these tryouts to be part of this prestigious event, the most competitive amateur baseball tournament in Canada. The tournament will, for the first time in its history, not be held at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, instead taking place in the nation’s capital at Ottawa Stadium, currently home to the Ottawa Titans.
