Friends rally to help family of murder victim

Friends and fans of an Ottawa hip-hop and reggae musician, murdered in the ByWard Market on Friday, are rallying to support his family.

Markland Campbell, also known as Jahiant Jahh, 41, was fatally shot Friday evening at York Street and ByWard Market Square. Friends say he was shot while trying to help his daughter.

An online fundraiser has been set up to collect money for Campbell's burial, with a goal of raising $10,000.

The suspect in Campbell's murder, Donald Musselman, 18, remains in custody until his next court appearance on Thursday.

Musselman was himself injured in a shooting, earlier this year. The teen was shot at the Burger King on Montreal Road, January 16.
