Gatineau police arrest two in connection with January homicide

Gatineau police (SPVG), have arrested two people in connection with the death of Martin Rock, 43, who died on January 26, 2022, following a fire at an apartment building located at 190, rue Saint-André in Gatineau.

Éric Dion, 41,and Caroline Dupuis-Lepage, 31, were arrested on Tuesday, March 29, by patrol officers in Granby, Quebec.

Knowing that the two were suspects in an SPVG investigation, Granby's police department alerted investigators in Gatineau investigators of their arrests. 

SPVG investigators travelled to Granby to arrest the two individuals and charge them with second-degree homicide and arson endangering human life.  

They are both from Gatineau and were known to the victim.

Around 5:30 a.m. on January 26, SPVG police officers arrived on Saint-André Street to assist the Gatineau Fire Department (SSIG), which was responding to a fire call in an apartment building.

Upon arrival, they found three people who had managed to evacuate the burning building. A fourth person had to be extricated by firefighters and was taken care of by the Paramedics of the Outaouais (CPO). 

Martin Rock, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene.

SPVG says the investigation is ongoing.
