The former mayor of Vanier and the woman who led a campaign to save the Montfort Hospital from closure has been laid to rest.
The funeral for Gisèle Lalonde was held on August 4 at Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Church located at 435 Montreal Road in Vanier.
Lalonde passed away on July 27. She was 89-years-old.
Lalonde served two terms as the mayor of Vanier in 1985 and 1991.
The flags at Ottawa City Hall and the Richelieu-Vanier Community Centre will be lowered to half-mast from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, August 4 in her honour.
