Good weather and better crowds; Bluesfest celebrates another great year

By Stuart McGinn

Bluesfest is celebrating another successful year, after the 10-day music festival wrapped up its final shows on the grounds of Lebreton Flats, Sunday night.

“Throughout the event, a program that kept on giving had attendees singing the praises of acts they specifically came to see, and those they discovered along the way,” said Bluesfest Executive and Artist Director, Mark Monahan, in a release.

The festival said they were delighted with how this year's line up was received.

30,000 people were on hand for the Foo Fighters, the festival's act met with the most anticipation.

Similar sized crowds took in other notable acts, like Bryan Adams, Shawn Mendes, and the Dave Matthews Band.

In total, Bluesfest estimated roughly 300,000 people attended the festival throughout it's 10 day string of concerts.

Despite continued complaints of lone wait times to get onto the concerts grounds this year, Monahan added they were pleased with how input was taken from fans from last year, and it was used to help re-configure the site to create a better fan experience.

Organizers say they're now off for a short break, before its time to get pack to work planning Cityfolk, from September 12 to September 16.
