Hepatitis A outbreak linked to frozen mangoes sold in Ontario

Frozen mangos sold in Ontario and other provinces are being recalled due to possible Hepatitis A contamination.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a recall warning over the weekend, saying the products should not be served or consumed.

The brands involved to date include Nature’s Touch, Compliments, Irresistibles and President’s Choices with certain best-before dates.

The CFIA is continuing its food safety is continuing its investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.

Hepatitis A infections can be contracted by people of all ages; however, the severity of illness increases with age and certain medical conditions.

Local residents who have consumed or served any of the recalled products should call the Eastern Ontario Health Unit at 613-933-1375 or 1-800-267-7120.
