Higher than average highs, plenty of sunny skies expected for Ottawa’s week ahead

By Dani-Elle Dubé

After a week of chilly temperatures, it looks like spring is back — just in time for the Easter Bunny's arrival.

For most of next week, Environment Canada is forecasting double digits highs and the much loved sunny skies.

Good Friday will be the chilliest day of the week with a high of 2 C, but it will still be a sunny day. Winds, however, will be around 30 km/h but gusts up to 50.

This is below the average high which is typically almost 7 C, according to the weather agency.

It will also be the coldest night of the week with a low of -10 C and clear skies, but feel more like -15 with the windchill.

Saturday is expected to be mainly sunny with a high of 9 C. Clouds, though, will increase throughout the afternoon with winds around 20 km/h, gusting up to 40 km/h.

The night will come with more cloudiness and a low of -1 C.

Then it’s double digits from Sunday onwards. Expect a high of 12 C on the sunny Sunday and a low of -1 at night with clear skies.

These temperatures are higher than what’s typically expected as the average high around this year, which is just above 7 C and an average low of about -2 C. This trend will continue for the rest of the week.

The sunny streak moves into Monday with a high of 13 C. A low of 0 is forecasted for the evening with cloudy periods.

Tuesday temperatures will climb a little higher with a mix of sun and cloud and high of 15 C.

The nighttime will come with a low of 3 C and cloudy periods.

Come Wednesday, Ottawa will be basking in the high of 16 C with a mix of sun and cloud, and a low of 4 C in the evening with cloudy periods.

The 16 C high is also expected to carry over to Thursday, also with a mix of sun and cloud.
