The Hog's Back swing bridge is closed until further notice due to an operational matter.
River Ward City Councillor Riley Brockington made the announcement via Twitter on Friday, July 23.
The Hog's Back swing bridge, owned by the NCC, is closed to all modes of traffic, due to an operational matter, until further notice.— Riley Brockington (@RiverWardRiley) July 23, 2021
Pedestrians and cyclists may use the lock bridges to the immediate north.
Excuse me while I go pull my remaining hair out.
The bridge is closed to all modes of traffic. Pedestrians and cyclists are asked to use the lock bridges to the immediate north.
Brockington is working to find out what the problem is with the bridge and to get a timeline from the National Capital Commission as to when the bridge will be expected to reopen.
The swing bridge has been closed for extended periods since the summer of 2019 for construction and other issues. It's most recent closure came in May of this year for testing and preventative work related to the start of Rideau Canal navigation season.
