Human remains found at Sheffield Road recycling facility identified as 58-year-old Ottawa man

Ottawa police have identified the human remains discovered at a commercial recycling plant on Sheffield Road as those of a 58-year-old man.

Ottawa Police Service’s Homicide Unit confirmed on Saturday that the man discovered at the facility was James Macauley-Teasdale of Ottawa.

OPS' Homicide Unit did confirm to CityNews Ottawa on Saturday that Mcauley-Teasdale was known to police, but would not divulge further details. 

The unit would also not confirm how police were able to identify the remains as Mcauley-Teasdale

On Friday, September 10, at about 12:20 p.m., police were called to Cascades Recovery+ on Sheffield Road in the city’s southeast end after receiving a call that human remains were discovered inside the facility.

The death is considered suspicious and investigators are working to determine the cause of death and the circumstances that led to their discovery.

The Homicide Unit investigators are seeking information as to any recent contacts with Macauley-Teasdale, or his whereabouts leading up to September 10, 2021.
