International Day of Pink aims to end bullying, discrimination

People all around the world are encouraged to wear pink today to mark the International Day of Pink.
The day was originally started in Nova Scotia by students David Shepherd and Travis Price to end bullying, discrimination and homophobia.
The pair saw a gay student being bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school, so the next day, a group of students showed up to school in pink shirts to support him.
It has since grown into a movement that sees millions of people wear pink all around the world to remember those positive actions, and to continue to make a difference.

Locally, the Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity is holding a 13th Anniversary Day of Pink Gala at the Horticulture Building at Lansdowne. It starts at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
