Kanata restaurant owner starts fundraiser to help area businesses

By Victoria Williston

A restaurant owner in Kanata has created a GoFundMe with the intention of helping other small businesses in the area.

Mike Labreche, part-owner of Crazy Horse and Central Bierhaus says he started the fundraiser to help other community restaurants struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the post created Sunday night, Labreche said he's only looking to help dine-in restaurants at this time. Right now, due to provincial restrictions, indoor dining in Ottawa is not allowed and that's causing a number of restaurants to struggle or close.

The GoFundMe is asking for $50,000, which Labreche says will be distributed to various restaurants in the area.

He goes on to say that any local business owners interested in receiving funds are asked to contact him through the GoFundMe page.
