Kanata South city council candidate wants to provide her ward with better leadership

By CityNews Staff

Active community member Rouba Fattal has been asked to run for city council for years. Now, with a desire to provide her ward with better leadership and accountability, the time is finally right.

Fattal — running for Kanata South — told The Sam Laprade Show on Tuesday, Aug. 16, that her top priorities are infrastructure, including filling potholes and repaving sidewalks, and addressing traffic speed.

“We have a huge issue here,” she said. “Many communities that are growing with young children, they are very concerned about speed and traffic.”

She added that she’d also focus on updating parks and promoting youth engagement.

With a PhD in political economy and the senior economist and advisor at Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), she has experience looking at budget reports and evaluating complex proposals.
