Lanark OPP charge man with impaired offences following golf cart joyride in Perth

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid impaired driving charges after a complaint about a golf cart being driven erratically in Perth. 

Around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, the Lanark County OPP Detachment received a report that a driver was speeding along Cockburn Street in a loud golf cart.

Officers conducting a RIDE program in the area of Conlon Farm located the vehicle a short time later, and while one occupant fled the scene on foot, a second occupant was arrested at the scene.

Shawn Fraser, 52, Drummond/North Elmsley Township, faces the following charges:

  • Operation while impaired – drugs and alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80

Fraser is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Sept. 26, 2022.

Police have yet to identify the other person involved.
