School bus trips to and from school could be cancelled at any time due to COVID-19 when students return to class next week, the Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA) warns.

In an announcement on the authority’s website, bus and van service for Kindergarten to Grade 12 students will resume on Monday following the two-week virtual learning period.

However, the OSTA warns that service disruptions may happen as the COVID-19 situation in the city remains fluid.

Short-term cancellations and delays will be posted to the OSTA’s delay and notification page and subscribers will be notified by email as they happen.

However, long-term cancellations — cancellations lasting longer than a few days — will be posted to the long-term OCDSB and OCSB cancellation lists.

On January 5, the Ontario government decided students would start off the new school semester with remote learning as cases in the city surged.

Those two weeks ended on Friday, January 14, and now students are scheduled to return to in-person learning on Monday, January 17.
