Long lines crossing into Ottawa from Gatineau as interprovincial checkpoints begin

Police checkpoints are causing major delays for commuters trying to get across the provincial border, from Gatineau into Ottawa.
The checkpoints are currently in place on all of the bridges, as well as the two ferries coming into the province from Quebec — resulting in significant traffic back-ups.

Ottawa police officers say they will be asking for individuals' name, address, and reason for entering Ontario. Those with reasons deemed non-essential will not be allowed to enter the province.
CityNews Ottawa is hearing from essential inter-provincial motorists that the commute is taking an additional hour to an hour-and-a-half to cross the border.
