LRT system resumes full service

The general manager (GM) of Ottawa's transit services has revealed that all repairs are complete to the O-Train Line 1 overhead catenary system.

A section of the LRT line's overhead catenary system was damaged between the University of Ottawa (uOttawa) and Lees station during a storm that happened on Sunday, July 24.

In a memo to Ottawa city councillors released on Friday, July 29, OC Transpo GM Renée Amilcar said damage from the storm has been repaired, and testing has been completed.

The system is resuming full service and 11 trains are planned to run during the afternoon peak period.

“We recognize the impacts these disruptions have had on our customers, and we thank them for their continued patience as we worked with Rideau Transit Group (RTG) to resolve the issues and return to normal operations,” the memo said. “We want to reassure our customers that the system is safe.”

RTG continues with its investigation into the system damage from July 24.
