Recent data provided by school boards is showing the majority of employees at schools in Ottawa and the Valley are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

This comes after the Ministry of Education required all Ontario school boards to provide staff vaccination statuses by September 7.

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) is leading the way, locally, with 95.47 per cent of employees fully immunized, while the Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) is just behind at 90.4 per cent.

According to the OCDSB, about 10,000 employees have submitted their vaccination statuses, which represents about 85 per cent of all staff members.

Both of Ottawa's largest boards have mandated COVID-19 vaccinations among staff.

The Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB) has 88 per cent of its staff fully vaccinated, and 93 per cent of employees within the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Over 57 per cent of employees at the Conseil des écoles publiques de l'Est de l'Ontario (CEPEO) have been fully immunized, but over 34 per cent of total staff have not submitted their vaccination statuses.

Fewer than 60 per cent of the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est's (CECCE) staff members have confirmed they are fully immunized against COVID-19, but the school board says thousands have yet to respond with their statuses.

The Ministry of Education expects school boards to publicly post aggregated depersonalized statistics by Wednesday, September 15, and to continue doing so on a monthly basis.
