Man charged in bus stop sex assault due in court

An Ottawa man charged in connection with an attempted sexual assault in Little Italy is due in court Friday.

Ottawa Police Service officials said a 22-year-old woman was at a bus stop near Young Street and Preston Street just before 1 a.m. Saturday, when a man dragged into nearby bushes and tried to sexually assault her.

The attacker fled when two bystanders chased him off.

Alex Lagasse, 41, of Ottawa turned himself into police.

He is now facing charges of sexual assault, uttering threats, mischief and breach of probation.
