Man suffers smoke inhalation in Sandy Hill apartment fire

One person was taken to hospital after an apartment fire in Sandy Hill.

Fire crews were called to 161 Augusta Street Monday morning, after reports of black smoke coming from the seventh floor.

Crews located a fire inside a unit on that floor.

A man in his 50's suffered smoke inhalation and paramedics also detected carbon monoxide in his blood. 

He was taken to hospital in stable condition. 

Augusta Street is closed between Chapel and Cobourg, and you're are asked to avoid the area if you are travelling downtown.
