The Ottawa Redblacks have fired General Manager Marcel Desjardins.

Desjardins, who had served as the general manager of the Redblacks since the team's inception in 2013, was instrumental in leading the franchise to three Grey Cup appearances, including a championship victory in 2016.

"Marcel was the first employee hired by the Redblacks back in 2013" said Mark Goudie, President & CEO, Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG). "He has put everything that he has into our organization. His many accomplishments include bringing Ottawa its first Grey Cup win in 40 years. I respect Marcel very much and thank him for his unwavering commitment to the Redblacks, RNation and our community."

Desjardins removal from the franchise comes in the midst of a four-game losing streak and a season in which the team has just two wins in 11 games Assistant General Manager Jeremy Snyder, who has also been with the Redblacks since 2013, will take over as General Manager on an interim basis for the rest of the CFL season, while Jean-Marc Edmé, who has been with the organization since 2016, will assume the Interim Assistant General Manager role.
