Nepean grandmother wants to see Hawaii after winning more than $700K

A big lottery win is giving Catherine Raymond and her family something to celebrate after she says, like most people, the pandemic has been tough.

“I brought my ticket to the store and the terminal froze,” the 65-year-old Nepean grandmother said. “I was shaking and was asking the clerk what the numbers on the screen said.”

She then texted her son and daughter-in-law to see if they were home, so she could share the news in person. When she got to her son’s house, they popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate.

“This is incredible! The pandemic has been a struggle for so many people and this bright spot in my life will be shared with the people I love the most.”

Raymond hopes to see Hawaii when it’s safe to travel again, but in the meantime, she says this Christmas will be a special one.

“This win makes some dreams come true for me and my family,” she smiled.

The winning ticket was purchased at Quickie on Jockvale Road in Nepean.
