Firefighters were able to contain the blaze and ensure all occupants made it out safely.

The Ottawa Fire Service was called to a home in Vanier early Thursday morning.

When crews arrived at 256 St. Denis Street, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the two-storey home.
